Item Open Access Design and synthesis of organic nonlinear optical materials(Nazarbayev University, 2014) Zhanabergenova, M.; Baptayev, B.; Tauanov, Z.; Zhakiyeva, Z.; Yergeshbayeva, S.; Berillo, D.; Adilov, S.Following the development of the idea of octupolar molecules as nonlinear optical materials a variety of compounds have been reported. Trans-porphyrins have a great potential to selforder into octupolar symmetry. Nonlinear optical properties can be tuned by using strong donor-acceptor groups in porphyrins as well as extension of conjugation. Here we report the syntheses of trans-A2D2- porphyrins and their dimerization into cubic octupoles by organic bidentate ligands.Item Open Access Design and synthesis of organic nonlinear optical materials(Nazarbayev University, 2013) Baptayev, B.; Tauanov, Z.; Bissengaliyeva, M.; Adilov, S.A new class of materials based on octupolar symmetries has been proposed for nonlinear optical (NLO) applications in early 1990s [1]. Unlike traditional dipolar systems octupolar molecules lack permanent dipole moments and have better chances to adopt noncentrosymmetric packing. The objective of this work is to prepare cubic octupoles based on trans-porphyrin dimers; these cubic systems are expected to show high nonlinearities at molecular as well as crystalline scale.Item Open Access Novel organometallic compounds for cancer treatment(Nazarbayev University, 2013) Zhanbossinova, A.; Yespolayeva, S.; Khamitova, G.; Negmetzhanov, B.; Alibek, K.; Adilov, S.Incorporating indole, resorcinol, and porphyrin derivatives into ferrocene and ruthenium complexes could improve their anticancer activity. These compounds are furnished with functional groups which are expected to induce programmed cell death and show high selectivity to cancer cells. Currently, they are at the stage of in vitro testing for anticancer activity.Item Open Access Rational design of new chemical drugs based on compounds that block the pores in cell membranes(Nazarbayev University, 2013) Kakpenova, A.; Zhanbossinova, A.; Negmetzhanov, B.; Tauanov, Z.; Karginov, V.; Adilov, S.; Alibek, K.“Rational Drug Design” method is a new principle and methodology in producing pharmaceuticals based on precise and structure-oriented approach. The proposed method is based on principle of blocking the pores caused by Staphylococccus aureus (S. aureus) toxins in the membranes of host cells [1]. Design of β-cyclodextrin derivatives with precise geometry might be used for production of antibacterial and prophylactic pharmaceuticals against S. aureus infection.
